Formed in Manchester in 1982, James are a highly influential English band and key figures of the legendary ‘Madchester’ scene. Known for frontman Tim Booth’s enigmatic vocals, introspective lyrics and fearless approach to genre experimentation, the band have built a reputation as one of the UK’s most enduring and inventive alternative acts.
James achieved widespread success with anthems including “Sit Down”, “Laid” and “Getting Away With It (All Messed Up)”, songs that continue to define their live shows and cultural legacy. Celebrating over 40 years together, the band released their 18th studio album Yummy in 2024, which reached #1 on the UK Albums Chart, their first ever studio album to do so. Praised for their continued reinvention across decades, James remain a vital creative force, with a career-spanning documentary set for release later this year.
