Having undergone a substantial redevelopment in recent years, Margaret Court Arena (MCA) has been transformed into one of Australia’s premier multi-use arenas, notably acclaimed for hosting the Australian Open, as well as Melbourne’s most celebrated sport and entertainment events.
The venue now features a retractable roof, which is the fastest of its kind in the world, alongside new corporate facilities, video screens, sound systems and spectator facilities.
With its humble beginnings as ‘Show Court One’ following its opening in 1988, the venue can now host basketball, netball and an array of entertainment events.
Melbourne & Olympic Parks acknowledges the Wurundjeri People of the Kulin Nation as Traditional Owners of the land on which the precinct is located and recognise their ongoing connection to this land, and rich culture. We pay respects to their Elders past, present and future.
Margaret Court Arena was opened at Melbourne Park, along with Rod Laver Arena, in 1988.
